Congress and Bipartisanship: Can't We All Just Get Along?

Congress and Bipartisanship: Can't We All Just Get Along?

Spring 2010 Symposium

About the Symposium

Many Americans criticize Congress for its members' unwillingness to comprise and not act in a bipartisan fashion. The Frey Institute's spring 2010 focuses on that question as the Obama administration sought to create ground-breaking policy in several areas. U.S. Rep John Mica (R-FL) joined former Congressmen Bill Frenzel (R-MN) and Larry LaRocco (D-ID) to provide current and historical context to that question. Dr. Jon Bond, a political science professor at Texas A&M University, also presented remarks about bipartisanship, how to study it and how it has changed across time. Other speakers included Norman Ornstein, of the American Enterprise Institute, and Pamela Bresnahan, previously with the Solicitor's Office at the U.S. Department of Interior.
