In the fall of 2007, the Frey Institute symposium addressed the coming presidential election in 2008. Commentators included Thomas Mann of The Brookings Institution and David Broder, noted columnist of The Washington Post. Speakers also included academics, activists and journalists. Each speaker gave candid and frank comments about the prospects of true progress as the nation stood at the threshold of an historic opportunity for change in the White House and across the country. Stephen Wayne, noted author and professor at Georgetown University, also spoke.
