Church and State: Blurring the Line?

Church and State: Blurring the Line?

Fall 2005 Symposium

About the Symposium

In the fall of 2005, the Frey Institute continued its tradition of addressing topical issues in a balanced manner. The fall symposium, now in a single-day format, considered the relationship between church and state in the contemporary period. Co-keynote speakers were Ralph Reed, former executive director of the Christian Coalition, and Nadine Strossen, past national president of the ACLU. Policymakers, including U.S. Rep. Ric Keller, State Sen. Tom Lee and Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty, addressed the broad issue of church-state relations at the state and local level. Panels also included religious leaders of several faiths, noted academics in the field, policy commentators, and lawyers involved in high-profile cases involving religious displays in public areas.
